October Updates
From Trailers to Trenches:
Real-World Power Solutions
From the farm to the quarry, to some seriously heavy transport solutions, we’ve been powering all sorts of jobs lately. In this edition, we’re highlighting a few standout projects where Yanmar and John Deere engines are helping Kiwis get the mahi done.
We’ve also been getting a lot of enquiries lately about water pumps, something we specialise in. Whether it’s for rural, civil, or construction use, having the right setup can make all the difference when the pressure’s on (sometimes literally).
So if moving water, lifting loads, or keeping things running smoothly is part of your world, we think you’ll find something useful below.
Cheers,

Powering the Heavyweights
When it comes to large-scale transport solutions, Hamilton based Tidd Ross Todd (TRT) are industry leaders. Known across New Zealand and Australia, TRT design and build some of the most advanced heavy-duty trailers on the market, including low loaders, house trailers, ESS platforms, and specialised mine-spec and military haulers.
These trailers don’t just carry big loads, they often require their own independent powerplants to operate complex hydraulic systems capable of lifting and moving hundreds of tonnes safely and efficiently.
Power Equipment worked closely with TRT’s engineering team to correctly spec the right powerplants - in this case, the Yanmar 4TNV98-NSC power packs (a robust 4-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine) and the Yanmar L-Series single-cylinder air-cooled engines.
This ensured reliable performance, efficient operation, and seamless integration with TRT’s hydraulic systems. TRT’s equipment is built to get the job done and Yanmar power is at the very heart of it.
Getting Water Where It’s Needed
Pumping water is all part of running a farm, and Yanmar is proud to be doing its part to support Kiwi farmers across NZ. Just outside Helensville, local farmer Campbell Phillips needed a reliable setup to pump water uphill to two storage tanks, something that would run smoothly, day in and day out.
His solution? A Davies water pump driven by a Yanmar T90 diesel engine. It’s a compact, efficient combo that gets the job done without the hassle - delivering strong, steady flow across challenging elevation.
Keeping Sites Dry — Without the Downtime
In construction and civil works, water can bring everything to a halt. Whether it’s site cleanup, dewatering, or flood management, moving water quickly — and reliably — is critical to keeping projects on track.
That’s where Yanmar and John Deere powerplants come into their own.
Yanmar diesel pumps are light, tough, and built for fast deployment — running for up to 8 hours on just 13 litres of fuel. Perfect for everyday site work and quick response jobs.
John Deere-powered centrifugal pumps bring the muscle when serious lift or solids are involved. They’re the heavy hitters — ideal for quarry operations, major infrastructure works, or anywhere water needs shifting at scale.
If water’s part of your worksite, we’ve got the gear to move it — efficiently and without compromise.
Water Management That Keeps Projects Moving
We know that for project managers and site supervisors, managing water on-site isn’t optional, it’s critical. Unexpected rain, rising groundwater, or inefficient runoff control can delay timelines, damage materials, and creates safety risks too:
Which is where Yanmar and John Deere come in:
Yanmar diesel-powered pumps are compact, fuel-efficient, and ideal for quick deployment. With run times of up to 8 hours on just 13 litres of fuel, they’re well-suited for everyday dewatering, trench clearing, and general site maintenance.
For larger jobs involving high lift or solids — such as quarrying, flood response, or infrastructure builds — John Deere-powered centrifugal pumps offer the durability and performance required to keep pace with demanding conditions.
Whether it’s keeping your site safe, your schedule intact, or your team working — having reliable water management gear is one less thing to worry about.
