November Updates
Hi team,
Summer’s officially here and we know for many of you, that means all hands on deck. It’s the busy season, boats going back in the water, customers needing last-minute fixes, and the usual chaos that comes with this time of year. If there’s anything you need — products, parts, advice, backup — don’t hesitate to flick us a message or pick up the phone. We’re here to support you through the season.
In this update, we’ve got a quick look at what’s happening on the ground in Fiji and a chance for your customers (or you!) to win tickets to next year’s Auckland On Water Boat Show. We’ve also included a heads-up on the summer weather outlook... could be a warm and humid one.
Cheers,
– Dave and the Power Equipment Team
On the Ground Support in Fiji
Fiji’s fast becoming one of the South Pacific’s go-to boating spots, and with more yachts and launches cruising through, having the right support on the ground is key.
That’s where Power Equipment dealer Yacht Help Fiji comes in. Based in Port Denarau, they have a wide range of equipment and parts spares on hand, and a team who know exactly how to keep things moving.
We caught up with Ifraz Khan - Yacht Help’s Marine Ops Manager.

Summer Outlook: Warm, Humid… and Possibly Wet.
Summer’s nearly here, and the latest climate outlook shows La Niña is back — and likely sticking around through the season. That means warmer weather for many parts of the country, plus a higher chance of those classic sub-tropical rainmakers drifting our way.
What’s coming?
Warmer temps: Most regions can expect temperatures to sit around or above normal. Great for summer, not so great if you’re working outdoors all day.
Rainfall swings: The northern North Island may see more rain, while parts of the lower South Island lean drier. Heavy downpours from tropical systems are more likely, so keep an eye on forecasts.
Soil & rivers: Some eastern areas — especially the North Island — may run a little dry, with lower soil moisture and river flows.
Ocean temps: Sea surface temperatures should stay near or slightly above average, especially off the North Island’s east coast.
What this means for you
A warmer, wetter-at-times summer can mean everything from extra demand on power gear to the occasional weather-related disruption. If you’re working outdoors, managing equipment, or planning summer projects, expect a mix of sunshine, heat, and a few surprise downpours.
Dave at METSTRADE, Amsterdam
This month, Dave headed over to the 2025 Marine Equipment Trade Show (METSTRADE) in Amsterdam, if you haven’t heard of it, it’s the world’s largest B2B marine equipment event. Over 1,500 exhibitors across 12 halls, the show is packed with the latest innovations, product launches, and industry insights from across the globe.
While he was there, Dave caught up with our partners at Hunstead Propeller and GORI Propeller (both part of the BIS Group), and had some great conversations about what’s working (and what’s next) for the Kiwi market. Plenty of ideas to bring home, and we’ll be sharing more in the months ahead.

Smartgyro Installed. Sea Trials Underway!
The Smartgyro SG20 has now been successfully installed aboard Shark Experience, and sea trials are currently underway off Bluff. Final adjustments and system checks are in progress, with everything on track for commissioning ahead of the upcoming season.
Owner-operator Mike Haines and the team at Gough Bros Engineering are working closely with Power Equipment to ensure peak performance, and a smoother ride for guests cage diving with Great Whites in the rugged waters of Foveaux Strait.
More updates to come once trials are complete!
