February 2026 Updates

Hikianalia

Hi everyone,

I hope 2026 has started well for you and that you’ve had the chance to enjoy some time on the water. As we head toward the Auckland On Water Boat Show, I wanted to share a few updates we’re excited about.

This month we’re featuring a great story from Tony Whiting about his work with Te Toki Voyaging Trust and their connection to Hikianalia, and why Yanmar plays an important role in their Pacific journeys.

You’ll also find details on where to find us at the Boat Show, a shout-out to our ticket winners, and a quick look at why Cox diesel outboards are gaining interest with Kiwi boaties.

If anything sparks a question, feel free to reach out, always happy to help.

See you at the show,

Dave Low

Powering Pacific Journeys: Tony Whiting on Voyaging with Yanmar

Tony Whiting is somewhat of an icon in New Zealand boating, a marine engineer by trade, a lifetime ocean sailor, and someone who has spent decades keeping vessels safe, reliable, and ready for the next horizon.

In our latest video, Tony shares stories from his work with Te Toki Voyaging Trust and their strong connection to the Hawaiian sailing waka Hikianalia, one of the most influential traditional voyaging craft in the Pacific.

He talks about what it takes to support ocean crossings on vessels guided by the stars, and why Yanmar was the smart choice to power these wakas on their long-distance journeys across the Pacific.

Cox Diesel Outboards

Engineered for First Responders, Well Suited to Kiwi Boaties

Cox’s V8 diesel outboards are built with the needs of first responders in mind - high torque, excellent fuel efficiency, and reliable performance in demanding conditions. But even though they’re designed for serious work, many of the same strengths make them a great option for recreational boat owners as well.

Key advantages:

  • Strong low-RPM torque for controlled acceleration and handling in challenging conditions

  • Improved fuel efficiency, giving greater range and lower running costs

  • Diesel safety benefits, with reduced flammability and simpler onboard storage

  • Commercial-grade durability, designed for consistent, year-round operation

For anyone running long distances, operating heavier boats, or simply wanting a safer and more efficient alternative to petrol outboards, Cox provides a proven alternative.
